Note

The current version supports Raspberry Pi 1/2/3/0/0W and the latest Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+.

Hardware:

  • Raspberry Pi
  • Cloudio
  • SD card for Raspberry Pi (8 GB or higher, class 10 or above)
  • Power supply (As recommended by Raspberry Pi)

Software:

  • Etcher software (Downloadable at www.etcher.io) - For writing GraspIO OS to the SD card.
  • GraspIO OS
  • GraspIO Studio mobile app

Writing the GraspIO OS to the SD card

An easy way to get the GraspIO OS onto your SD card is to use a free tool called Etcher.
This section explains how to install GraspIO OS image on an SD card.

  1. Download the GraspIO OS and save it on your computer.
  2. Download and install Etcher from www.etcher.io
  3. Insert the SD card into your computer and check what drive letter it was assigned.
  4. Open Etcher and click on Select image.
    Select the GraspIO OS from the location where it was saved in step 1.
  5. Click the Select drive option to select the destination SD card to flash the OS to.
  6. Select the drive letter of the SD card in the device box. Be careful to select the correct drive.
  7. Click Flash to begin flashing the OS onto the SD card. This process may take some time.
  8. After flashing is complete, a success message is displayed as shown. Exit the Etcher application and eject the SD card.

Your SD card with Cloudio OS is now ready to use.

Assembling Cloudio on Raspberry Pi

  1. Make sure that Raspberry Pi is unpowered and insert the SD card with the GraspIO OS Image.
  2. Make sure that the spacer is always connected to Cloudio before it is mounted on Raspberry Pi.
  3. Then, mount Cloudio on Raspberry Pi’s GPIO header. If you're using a Raspberry Pi 0/0W, mount Cloudio's left-most pins on Raspberry's left-most pins.
  4. Gently press down to make sure the pins are secure and aligned properly.
  5. If your Raspberry Pi does not have on-board Wi-Fi, connect a Wi-Fi dongle.
    (Note: Only Raspberry Pi 3 and Raspberry Pi Zero W have built-in Wi-Fi capabilities)
  6. Plug in the power supply into the micro USB slot to turn on your Raspberry Pi and Cloudio.
    A welcome message will be displayed on the OLED screen when your setup is ready.

Creating your account on GraspIO Studio

Download GraspIO Studio on to your mobile device from Play Store or App Store and create an account using your email ID.

Connecting Cloudio to the network and your account

To connect Cloudio to the network and your account on GraspIO Studio, you'll need a Wi-Fi connection that both your mobile device and Cloudio can connect to.
Follow the steps here to do this.

Upon successful completion of this, your board is now connected and registered to your account.
